§ 01 — The problem

Platforms take 25% and never give you the customer back.

You already know this. The marketplace sends a customer to your boat. They have a great day. You never hear from them again because the marketplace owns the email, the phone number, the preferences. Next year, when they fly back to Malta, they book someone else because there's no way for you to get in front of them.

Over ten years, that's thousands of customers who had an unforgettable day on your boat and who your business cannot reach. That invisible cost — not the 25% commission, the lost repeat business — is usually larger than everything else combined. BookItMalta exists to fix it.

§ 02 — What you get

Your booking engine. Your customer list. Your business.

Not a marketplace. A booking system that runs on your own site, under your own brand.
01

Stays on your site.

Keep your WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or custom site. We install the booking engine for you — one script tag, styled to match your theme, tested on mobile. You don't touch any code. Your brand, your domain, your traffic — customers never get handed off to a platform.

02

Captain portal built for Malta.

Calendar, availability, bookings, customer records, weekly payouts, WhatsApp confirmations, seasonal pricing. Refined over a year of real Malta charter operations. Not a generic global tool.

03

The customer is yours.

Every booking arrives with full email, phone, group details, preferences. Send a thank-you. Invite them back for sunset. Run a repeat-customer campaign next spring. Build the customer asset marketplace platforms structurally prevent.

§ 03 — The product

Built for captains, not for platforms.

The captain's portal is where the day-to-day actually happens. Availability, bookings, customer details, revenue — everything a charter operation needs, nothing it doesn't.

Captain's portal dashboard · bookings · availability
Booking flow embedded in your site
Customer records exportable · yours to keep
Content & WhatsApp edit pricing · auto-confirm
§ 04 — Under the hood

The specifics that operators notice.

Not a feature list for the sake of one — these are the details operators ask about on demo calls, listed up front.
01

Two-tier access control

Captain PIN for day-to-day bookings and availability. Owner PIN for revenue analytics and settings. Crew never see the commercial data.

02

Live availability calendar

Auto-refreshes every 90 seconds and on tab focus. Colour-coded by state — available, waitlist, partial. Customers always see what's really bookable.

03

Intelligent waitlist

Fully-booked dates stay tappable. Customer joins the waitlist automatically and gets notified if a spot opens. One more booking captured per season, every season.

04

Cross-sell on the fly

Full-day charter booked on the date they wanted? The engine offers the sunset cruise on the same day. Converts dead-ends into bookings without a sales pitch.

05

WhatsApp confirmations

Every enquiry generates a pre-filled WhatsApp summary the captain confirms personally. Automated where it should be, human where it matters.

06

Seasonal pricing tiers

Define peak, shoulder, and off-peak rates once. The system applies the right price to every enquiry automatically — no spreadsheet, no forgotten updates.

07

Automated email lifecycle

Enquiry received, booking confirmed, reminder 48h before, post-trip thank-you, review request. Five touchpoints. Operators set it up once.

08

Full customer records

Every booking writes a customer record — email, phone, preferences, trip history, notes. Exportable as CSV any time. Your list, your GDPR basis, your asset.

§ 06 — Worked example

What 96 bookings looks like on each platform.

A typical Malta catamaran operator. 96 confirmed charters per season, average booking €800. Here's what each option actually costs.

Gross season revenue (96 × €800) €76,800
Marketplace commission at 20% −€15,360
BookItMalta — Professional tier
Monthly SaaS (€199 × 12) −€2,388
Commission at 5% −€3,840
You save per season €9,132
And you keep the customer list priceless

Assumes moving all 96 bookings from a marketplace to direct. Real operators run a mix — even shifting half the bookings over pays for BookItMalta twice over.

§ 07 — Pricing

Three tiers. No surprises.

Pick the tier that fits your operation. The monthly fee covers infrastructure and support. Commission is what you pay on confirmed bookings through the system. Everything else is yours.

§ 09 — Questions

Answers, before you ask.

Do I keep my existing website?

Yes — that's the whole point. You keep your domain, your branding, your SEO, your Google presence. We embed the booking engine into your existing site. Most operators are live in one day of setup.

What if I don't have a website yet?

We can build one. TrueNorthDigital (the team behind BookItMalta) has been building booking-enabled charter websites for years. Quote depends on your requirements. Ask on the demo call.

Can I still use marketplaces and OTAs alongside this?

Absolutely. BookItMalta handles the bookings that come through your direct channels — your website, Instagram, Google, referrals. You keep the platform channels running in parallel for the reach they provide. Over time, most operators find their direct-booking share grows and their platform dependence shrinks. Your call, your pace.

Who actually owns the customer data?

You do. Every booking's email, phone, preferences, and notes sit in your captain's portal, exportable at any time. Full CSV download, GDPR-compliant, no lock-in. If you ever cancel BookItMalta, your customer list goes with you. That's different from how the big platforms work, and it's one of the main reasons operators move across.

What happens if I cancel?

You export your data, take your website, and go. No penalty, no lock-in. We give you 30 days to migrate to another system. The only thing that stays with us is our code — everything else is yours.

Why should I trust a new platform?

BookItMalta is built by TrueNorthDigital, using the same booking stack we've been running in production with a Malta charter operator for the past year. Same codebase, same principles — now available to other operators. This isn't a prototype we're selling before we've proven it.

How long does setup take?

Typical onboarding is 7–10 days from signature to live bookings. We build your listing, embed the booking engine on your site, configure pricing and availability, train you on the captain's portal, and run a test booking with you. The longest part is usually waiting for your approval on each step.
